Privacy

Dockwerk is an alarm-clock face for your own phone and a gallery for its designs. Both are built so that as little data as possible accrues. This page says which data that is.

The app

The app stores its settings, fetched designs and your chosen pictures on the device. There is no account, and it uploads nothing of yours. It reaches out to the internet only in the cases listed below.

Weather

If a design shows the weather, the app asks Open-Meteo for the coordinates of the place you chose in the settings. The app does not read your location — it does not even have the permission to. Without a chosen place it asks nothing at all. As with every request on the internet, your IP address is transmitted to Open-Meteo; their privacy notes apply to that.

Appointments

The appointments widget reads the device calendar if you grant the permission. Appointments are only displayed and never leave the device. Without the permission the widget stays empty.

Pictures

Pictures you choose as a background or clock face stay on the device. For transfers from your computer, the app briefly opens a small server on your own Wi-Fi that only runs while the page is open and is only reachable with the displayed code. None of this goes to the internet.

Fetching designs

When you fetch a design from the gallery, the app downloads its description from this website. If the design brings a background the app does not already have, it downloads that image from here too and keeps it on the device so it is there straight away next time. The usual server details are recorded in the process (see below). Who fetches which design is not recorded — only how often a design has been fetched.

Server logs

On each request the server processes the technically necessary data: IP address, time, requested address, browser identifier. They serve operation and security (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in a working, non-abused service) and are deleted after 14 days at the latest.

Cookies

Without signing in, the website only sets technically necessary cookies: one against form abuse (CSRF) and, if you switch the language, one for that choice. There is no analytics and no advertising, and no third-party content is embedded.

Account

You only need an account to save, publish or rate your own designs — browsing and fetching works without one. Signing in runs exclusively through Google; Dockwerk receives your name and e-mail address and stores them for as long as the account exists (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR — performance of the usage relationship). No password is issued or stored here. Google learns that you sign in.

Published designs

If you publish a design, its description and your display name are publicly visible. Your own pictures are never part of a design — a shared design shows the recipient's own pictures.

Your rights

You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability, and object to the processing. An informal message to the address above is enough. You are also entitled to complain to a supervisory authority; the responsible one is the Independent Data Protection Centre of Saarland.
