The app
Dockwerk shows the time full-screen on an Android phone while it charges — on your desk just as much as by your bed. Which clock face it shows is up to you: pick one from the gallery or build your own.
The app is not available to download yet. Dockwerk is about to be published on Google Play. You can already browse and build designs here — they will be waiting in your collection once the app arrives.
What you need
An Android phone and something to hold it upright while charging — a charging pad, a stand, a dock. With wireless charging the clock comes on by itself; with a cable it does too, once the screen goes idle.
Setting it up
Dockwerk is a screensaver, not an app you open. On first launch the setup page walks you through the two steps needed: pick Dockwerk as your screensaver, and under “When to start” choose “While charging”. Then put the phone in its dock and the clock appears by itself. A tap on the screen ends it again.
If your phone shows a grey digital clock in the dark instead of your design, Android’s low-light mode is on. You can switch it off at the bottom of the screensaver settings.
Designs
Every design in the gallery carries a QR code: point your phone camera at it and Dockwerk takes it over. On the phone itself you get a button instead of the code. If you would rather build your own, split the surface into fields in the editor and drop in the time, date, weather or your next alarm — that works far more comfortably on a computer than on a small screen.
